Common is an American rapper, songwriter, actor and writer who released his first LP, “Can I Borrow A Dollar?” under the Common Sense moniker in October 1992.
His first major-label album Like Water for Chocolate (2000) received commercial success, and was certified Gold on August 11, 2000 by the Recording Industry Association of America. Common won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song for “Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop)” in 2003.
He also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for his composition “Glory” with John Legend for the 2014 film Selma.
