    Born on September 30, 1924, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Truman Capote was the son of Lillie Mae Faulk and Archulus Persons.

    His parents divorced when he was just four years old, and Capote was sent to Monroeville, Alabama, to live with his mother's relatives.

    Literary Beginnings

    As a precocious child, Capote developed a passion for writing and reading at an early age.
