Overview
John Charles Frémont (1813–1890), known as the “Pathfinder,” was an influential explorer, military officer, and politician from Georgia. Frémont gained fame for leading five expeditions into the American West, playing a significant role in mapping the region and encouraging Westward Expansion.
During the Mexican-American War, he helped secure California for the United States.
