John Ross
The Lonely Road Foundation is a South African charity, set up to support orphaned and vulnerable children in rural and underprivileged communities in South Africa.
Photographer John Ross, working closely with the Foundation, travelled to Limpopo Province in South Africa to photograph the lives of nine different families. A photographic essay about each of the families highlights the tragedies, the challenges, the sadness and scarce moments of happiness that all the families experience.
The photography and supporting narrative provides a harrowing insight into the problems that exist within these communities including HIV, poverty, malnutrition, parental neglect and lack of basics including water.
